Penston Honored as PBC Offensive Player of Week
DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia women’s
soccer freshman sensation Kelly Penston has been named the Peach
Belt Conference Offensive of the Week, capturing the award for the
first time in her career.
Penston led the Lady Saints offensively with a pair of goals as
North Georgia pushed their current unbeaten streak to 20 days with
victories over Georgia Southwestern and Armstrong Atlantic.
The Suwanee, Georgia, native recorded the final of three goals
against in the Hurricanes in a 3-0 victory, before leading the
charge and scoring the first goal of the game against Armstrong
Atlantic as the Lady Saints shocked the Pirates 2-1 in Peach Belt
Conference action.
As a freshman, Penston has stepped in to the striker position and
is second on the team with six goals, while sitting 10th in the
Peach Belt Conference in goals, goals per game, points, and points
per game.
During the Lady Saints current four-game winning streak, Penston
has carried the offense, scoring a trio of goals and adding an
assist to spark North Georgia’s jump right back into the top
four of the Peach Belt Conference regular season race.
