Lady Saints Fall 3-0 to Columbus State
Dahlonega, GA – North Georgia College
& State University trailed by a goal at the half, and fell to
13th-ranked Columbus State University 3-0 in Peach Belt Conference
action Wednesday night at the soccer complex.
Columbus State (5-2) got on the board in the 38th minute as
Melinda Bush took a deflected shot by Jordan McKenzie and walked
into the goal for a 1-0 Cougar advantage.
Lindsey Morgan recorded her first goal of the season just 23
seconds after halftime to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead, and Gina
Goforth would put a lid on the scoring in the 88th minute as
Stephanie Parrish sent a cross to Goforth who placed the ball in
the left side of the goal for a Columbus State 3-0 victory.
Both teams recorded five shots in each half, and CSU’s
Monica Sanchez saved five shots, while North Georgia’s
Jessica English tallied four saves while allowing three goals.
The Lady Saints will return to action on Sunday afternoon as they
welcome the University of Montevallo to the soccer complex with
kickoff scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
