Lady Saints Win Third Straight, Defeat Lakers 2-1

& State University used a pair of second-half goals by Lauren
Schenk to win their third straight contest and take down Clayton
State University 2-1 Saturday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference
action.
North Georgia improves to 6-3-2 overrall and 3-1 in the Peach Belt
Conference, while Clayton State falls to 0-12 overall and 0-5 in
the PBC.
All of the scoring took place in the second half as North Georgia
drew first blood in the 52nd minute as Lauren Schenk scored off a
deflection by Clayton State goalkeeper Whitney Jowers, giving the
Lady Saints a 1-0 lead.
It stayed 1-0 until the 75th minute when Clayton State committed a
foul inside the penalty box, and Schenk scored on the penalty kick
to give North Georgia a 2-0 lead. However, Clayton State struck
right back as Teresa Smith-Dack scored off a cross deflection from
a direct kick by Laker teammate Jennifer Powell.
Jessica English recorded five saves for the Lady Saints, while
Jowers stopped seven shots of her own.
The Lady Saints return to action next Friday night, traveling to
Pembroke, North Carolina, to take on 14th-ranked UNC Pembroke at
3:00 p.m.
