Huffman Tabbed as Women's Basketball Assistant
DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College &
State University head women’s basketball coach Buffie Burson
has announced the addition of former standout Lindsey Huffman as the
new assistant coach of the Lady Saints for the 2009-10 season.
“We are thrilled to have Lindsey rejoin our North Georgia
Lady Saint's staff and family,” head women’s basketball
Buffie Burson said. “Her ability to recruit and develop
players will make an immediate impact on our program. She is a
great addition to our staff."
Huffman will begin her duties immediately, which consist of
recruiting, handling day-to-day operations of the program, and
assisting Burson in on-floor coaching responsibilities.
“Having played and coached at North Georgia, Lindsey
understands the challenges and expectations of the program,”
Burson said.
During her one year playing for the Lady Saints, Huffman ran the
point guard position, averaging 7.9 points and 1.5 rebounds per
game as North Georgia posted a record of 19-1 in the Peach Belt
Conference to claim the regular season championship.
Huffman graduated from North Georgia with a degree in Physical
Education and spent two years as a graduate assistant under Burson
before spending last season as an assistant coach for the
women’s basketball program at Roswell High School.
The Lady Saints will open the 2009-10 season with five straight
home games, including contests against Newberry, Rollins, and
Kentucky Welseyan.
