Lady Saints Fall 56-48 at 18th-Ranked USC Aiken
DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia led early
in the second half, but fell 56-48 at 18th-ranked USC Aiken
Saturday evening at the Convocation Center in Peach Belt Conference
action.
The Lady Saints lose their fifth straight game and fall to 3-6
overall and 0-2 in league play, while the Lady Pacers improve to
9-3 overall and 1-1 in the Peach Belt Conference.
Offense was hard to come by as both clubs put up their fewest
points of the season and combined to turn the ball over 33 times.
USC Aiken jumped out in front 11-0 in the opening minutes, but the
Lady Saints came back to tie the game later in the opening period
before trailing 26-22 at halftime.
North Georgia took their first lead of the game in the second half
as Stephanie Brownlee sank a free throw at the 16:20 mark to
complete a three-point play and put the Lady Saints in front 30-29.
USC Aiken responded with an 11-3 run to take the lead for good and
hold on for the eight-point victory.
Whitney Randolph led North Georgia with 14 points and seven
rebounds, while Syretha Marble added 12 points, six rebounds, and
three steals. Brooke Baker chipped in nine points on 3-5 shooting
in 26 minutes of action.
Satu Leppanen led the Lady Pacers with 13 points, while Megan
Starnes tallied 11, and Meredith Legg added 10.
North Georgia returns to action on Monday, January 5, hosting
Armstrong Atlantic in their PBC home opener at 5:30 p.m.
