Lady Saints Rally Late, Defeat Jaguars 74-71
AUGUSTA, GA – North Georgia pulled off
their biggest comeback of the year Saturday afternoon, ending the
game on a 16-3 run to defeat Augusta State 74-71 at Christenberry
Fieldhouse in Peach Belt Conference action.
North Georgia improves to 8-18 overall and 5-14 in the PBC, while
Augusta falls to 5-20 overall and 3-15 in the league.
The Lady Saints trailed 68-58 with 5:05 remaining, but North
Georgia would hold Augusta State without a field goal the rest of
the way to pick up the road victory.
The Jaguars also missed 5-6 free throws down the stretch as the
Lady Saints made a run, sending North Georgia to their third win in
the last four games.
Syretha Marble paced the Lady Saints and led all scorers with 23
points in all 40 minutes of action, while Brooke Baker continued
her good play, scoring 14 points on 7-7 shooting from the free
throw line.
Brittany Jarrard led Augusta State with 16 points, while Stacey
Lampkin added 12 points and nine rebounds.
North Georgia shot an even 50 percent from the floor, while ASU
went 45.9 percent from the field and outrebounded the Lady Saints
40-27.
The Lady Saints return to action at home, hosting Lander
University Wednesday, February 25, for Senior Day 2009. This will
be the last regular season game before the PBC Tournament begins on
March 4, in Aiken, South Carolina.
