USC Aiken Hands Saints 1-0 Loss in PBC Opener
AIKEN, SC – North Georgia saw a goal in
the 84th minute dash their chances of coming away with a victory in
their PBC opener, falling 1-0 at the hands of USC Aiken in Peach
Belt Conference action at the Pacer Pit.
North Georgia drops their third straight game and fall to 2-4
overall, and 0-1 in the Peach Belt Conference, while USC Aiken
picks up their first victory of the season, improving to 1-2
overall and 1-0 in the league.
The deciding moment came at the 83:27 mark as Troy Watson left a
look for Fernando Gamez who made it count, sending shot past North
Georgia goalkeeper Sean Durkan for the loan goal of the
contest.
The Saints were outshot 16-9 by the Pacers, while North Georgia
held a slight advantage in corner kicks at 7-4.
Charles Andray recorded the win in goal for USC Aiken, notching
the shutout while picking up four saves. Rade Tanaskovic started
the game for the Saints and recorded three saves before Durkan came
on in relief for the second half.
North Georgia returns home Tuesday, September 15, to host Queens
University of Charlotte in a non-conference match-up. Kickoff is
set for 5:00 p.m. at the Soccer Complex.
