Saints Rally to Defeat Bearcats 66-55 on Senior Day

DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College
& State University trailed by two points at halftime but came
out on fire in the second period to run away with a 66-55 victory
over Lander University Wednesday evening on Senior Day in Memorial
Hall.
The Saints finish the regular season at 15-11 overall and 9-11 in
the Peach Belt Conference, while Lander falls to 11-14 overall and
7-12 in the league.
North Georgia put four players in double figures, with Anthony
Rowe leading the way with 16 points, while LaBrian Lyons added 13
and Michael Moynihan and Brody Langston tallied 11 apiece.
Dane Sparrow paced Lander University with a game-high 18 points,
while Brenton Harris added 13 and Darious Johnson chipped in
10.
With Lander up by a pair at halftime, North Georgia came out and
took the lead right back with 16:49 remaining on a layup by
Moynihan to make it 40-39 as the Saints took the lead for good.
Rowe gave North Georgia their largest lead of the game at 62-48 on
a pair of free throws with 4:29 remaining before the Saints pulled
out the 66-55 victory.
North Georgia shot 43.5 percent from the floor and just 20 percent
from behind the arc, while Lander was 30.9 percent from the field
and 27.8 percent from long range. The two teams combined to turn
the ball over just 16 times, while the Saints held a 41-34
rebounding advantage.
North Georgia returns to action at the 2009 Peach Belt Conference
Tournament, and will wait for seedings to be announced over the
weekend.
