North Georgia Set to Host Pirates on the Hardwood

DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia
basketball teams play host to Armstrong Atlantic tonight in a pair
of crucial Peach Belt Conference games. The women’s game will
get things started at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s game
at 7:30 p.m.
The Lady Saints are looking for their first PBC win of the season,
sitting at 3-6 overall and 0-2 in league play as they oppose a Lady
Pirates team that is on a roll at 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the
conference. Lacey Willis leads Armstrong Atlantic with 19.2 points
per game and 7.6 rebounds per contest, while All-American Syretha
Marble will look to guide North Georgia to a victory as she
averages 17.6 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
The Last time the two schools met was January 21st of last year as
the Lady Saints outlasted AASU 78-66 behind 22 points and 11
rebounds from Syretha Marble. North Georgia is 9-16 all-time
against Armstrong Atlantic with the teams splitting a pair of
meetings last season.
The men’s game will feature a pair of high-powered offenses
that both average over 85 points per game. The Saints are 6-2
overall and 0-2 in the PBC, while Armstrong Atlantic is 8-1 overall
and 1-1 in the conference. Both teams are evenly matched with each
squad putting four players in double figures. Dwight Tolbert leads
Armstrong with 14.8 points per game, while Michael Moynihan heads
up the Saints’ offense with 16.1 points per game.
The last time these two met was in the first round of the PBC
Tournament as North Georgia came away with an 88-86 victory.
Armstrong Atlantic leads the all-time series 6-9, including picking
up wins in both regular season meetings last season.
