North Georgia to Hold Cheer Tryouts for 2009-10

The NGCSU cheerleading program will be in their 3nd year as competition team, along with a basketball cheerleading squad. The team will consist of 34 cheerleaders who will be doing both competition and basketball cheerleading. The cheerleading program at NGCSU will be built on pride, integrity, commitment, and character. Competition cheerleaders will cheer 3-5 basketball games and compete in three competitions along with the conference championships in March.  The season will run from August through the middle of April. Basketball cheerleaders will cheer all home basketball games. The season schedule will include up to four evenings of practice a week for competitive cheerleaders and up to two for basketball cheerleaders. Competition Cheerleaders will be required to attend camp during the summer.

Tryouts for the 2009-2010 Cheer Team will be held April 25 and April 26 at: Tiger Elite All-Star Gym

What to bring on the first day of try-outs:
*    Physical Form        
*    Copy of Insurance card
*    Cheerleading Application and Waiver Form
*    Picture (headshot)
Saturday, April 25 – Check In between 1:00 – 2:30
workshop and interviews    3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Sunday, April 26 - 1:00 PM  - 4:00 PM workshop and interviews, Final Selection in the evening 6:00- 8:00PM


Skill Requirements:
Must Have Skills – standing back handspring, round-off back handspring, toe–touch, series of jumps, strength if you are base, and single leg stunts and full downs if you are a flyer. Will keep some non-tumblers for basketball cheerleading.
Suggested Skills: standing back tuck, round-off back handspring tuck or higher, toe touch back handsprings


What to Wear:
Women - practice shorts and a T-shirt or tank (nothing too loose or baggy)
Men - comfortable practice shorts and a T-shirt (no tank tops for the men)
*Please Note – Acceptance to the team will be predicated on admission to NGCSU.
