Hornets Rally in Seventh, Edge Saints 4-2
DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia allowed
three runs in the seventh inning to fall 4-2 Tuesday afternoon to
Southern Poly in non-conference action at Bob Stein Stadium.
The Saints fall to 5-4 on the season, while Southern Poly improves
to 8-1 on the season.
After the Hornets put up a single run in the second innings, Zach
Bennett drove in the first run of the game for the Saints,
grounding out to second base to bring Craig Brisson home from third
and tie the game 1-1.
Andre Airich then stepped to the plate and promptly broke the
deadlock, sending a solo shot to right-center to give the Saints a
2-1 lead.
Southern Poly came back in the seventh inning with five hits to
put a three spot on the board and take a 4-2 lead. Chaise Oliver
provided the go-ahead RBI, sending a double down the left field
line to plate Daniel Hester.
Hunter Dinsmore picked up the win in six innings of work, while
Justin Yackee (2-1) suffered the loss in relief, allowing three
hits and two runs.
The Saints return to action this weekend, traveling to USC Aiken
to take on the Pacers as both school’s open up Peach Belt
Conference play with two games on Saturday and a single game Sunday
afternoon.
