#17 Saints Complete Sweep, Defeat Lions 12-2
DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia broke
through at the plate Sunday afternoon, recording a season high 19
hits on their way to a 12-2 victory over Mars Hill College to cap a
three-game sweep over the Lions in non-conference action.
The Saints win their third straight and improve to 5-3 on the
season, while Mars Hill falls to 7-4 after dropping the three-game
series.
Mars Hill picked up their only runs of the game with single runs
in the first and third innings. Mike Kitt and Brian Williams picked
up the RBI’s for the Lions.
The Saints had home runs from Craig Brisson, Adam Baker, and Chad
Sage to lead he way, while Brisson and Anders Oster finished a
perfect 4-4.
North Georgia put up single runs in the second, third, and added
two more in the fourth before exploding for four runs in the
seventh and eighth innings to put up a dozen runs.
Michael Patton (1-1) picked up the victory, going 6.0 innings and
allowing eight hits and two runs while striking out nine. Corey Rau
(1-1) suffers the loss, tossing 5.0 innings and giving up eight
hits and four earned runs while striking out five and walking a
pair.
The Saints return to action Wednesday afternoon, playing host to
Southern Poly at 3:00 p.m. The mid-week game will be North
Georgia’s last tune up before opening conference action next
weekend at USC Aiken.
