Brian Mallory, Men's Golf
Brian Mallory has been named the Moe’s
Southwest Grill North Georgia Athlete of the Week after leading the
Saints to their first top-10 finish at the Piedmont Invitational.
Mallory fired his best round of the year, a one-under-par 71,
securing him a spot in a four-person playoff where Winston Gibbs of
Abraham Baldwin College came away with the victory in the fifth
playoff hole. The Gainesville, Ga., native has a season stroke
average of 75.7 to lead the team, and is only player for the Saints
to record a round under par. The second place finish for Mallory is
the highest finish for any North Georgia golfer this season as he
led his team to the school’s highest finish in 7th place in
the field of 14 teams. Mallory and his squad will have two weeks
off before taking on Clayton State and West Georgia in head-to-head
matches October 12-13, with the Saints playing their-first ever
home tournament on the 13th as the Lakers and Wolves come to town
to compete at Achasta.
